Today's Swim

It was a rough and tumble ocean this morning. The waves were steady and inconsistent. Paddleboarders reigned. It was not predictable enough for surfers and swimmers, but I swam anyway.

I made it a bit less than a mile, sucking in the occasional spray, and decided I had had enough. I had never before gotten out of the water before meeting my end goal, but today was the day.

Imagine my surprise to read the tragic news about a world class swimmer who had accidentally drowned. I take courage in my swimming abilities, but I was nowhere near this guy’s level.
